The Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) and the Vladimir Potanin Foundation are welcoming applications for the Olympic Scholarships competition as part of the Vladimir Potanin Fellowship Programme. Winners will receive scholarships to study on RIOU’s English language version of the Master of Sport Administration (MSA) course in academic year 2020/21.
RIOU students will have a chance to learn from leading Russian and international experts in the field of sports management, focusing on up-to-date international case studies. Upon completion of the one-year programme, they will receive RIOU’s diplomas of professional retraining (issued in Russian and English), conferring the Master of Sport Administration qualification.
Professor Lev Belousov, RIOU Rector: “Our cooperation with the Vladimir Potanin Foundation has been extremely fruitful, and it continues to develop. We keep track of our students’ professional growth, following their academic progress and career development. It is delightful to see that the quality of our student body is improving from year to year. This means we are on the right track. What is really important, none of our graduates remain without a job. Moreover, all of them end up in senior positions and become part of the Vladimir Potanin fellowship community. We have an alumni club, which is a powerful network for communication and mutual support. In this way, we are making our humble contribution to building future sports leaders. And this would not be possible without our cooperation with the Foundation.”
Oksana Oracheva, General Director of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation: “Looking at the graduates’ career paths, we see that the MSA course provided a springboard for them into the world of sports management. But I would like to highlight not only the professional knowledge that the Olympic University offers, but also the excellent opportunities for self-fulfillment. For example, last year our fellows took part in the Russia-Africa Summit hosted by Sochi, and undertook internships at the Paris-Sud University and a number of major international sports federations. Besides, the students have full access to the main events of the Vladimir Potanin Fellowship Programme – from the Foundation’s School to the competition “Practices of Personal Philanthropy and Altruism”. We are looking forward to receiving new applications, and are confident that the new cohort will be as brilliant as the previous ones”.
The Olympic Scholarships programme has been run since 2013. Over the seven years, it has awarded scholarships to 136 fellows from more than 60 different countries. The current intake on RIOU’s international Master of Sport Administration course includes 20 Vladimir Potanin fellows from 15 countries. In addition, 9 visiting professors from 8 countries are supported in their teaching work by the Foundation’s grants.
Annually, the Foundation provides scholarships to over 20 students, which cover the tuition fees, accommodation on the Sochi campus, as well as individual monthly allowances.
Applications for academic year 2020/21 should be submitted to the RIOU Admissions Board by 31 July 2020 via this link.
The competition results will be announced on 6 August 2020.
